Anna Paquin was born in the city of Winnipeg, but was raised in Wellington. She became an actor in the role of Flora McGrath in romantic drama film, The Piano. Paquin who was born in Wellington but was born and bred in Winnipeg was first seen in the acting world on screen in The Piano. At age 11 she was an infant Academy Award winner ever for Best Actress. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams in a 1997 television movie adaptation of the novel by Carson McCullers The Member of the Wedding and also played a part in the title role as Queen Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenagers as part of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and also played in the role of the polexia Aphrodisa groupie in Almost Famous (2000).
