Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin was born in the city of Winnipeg, but was raised in Wellington. She became an actor in the role of Flora McGrath in romantic drama film, The Piano. Paquin who was born in Wellington but was born and bred in Winnipeg was first seen in the acting world on screen in The Piano. At age 11 she was an infant Academy Award winner ever for Best Actress. She was cast as Flora McGrath the daughter of Mute Scottish pianist who, in the middle of the 19th century makes her way to New Zealand for an arranged wedding when she answered an open audition call; she was nine years old and had almost no previous experience with acting. As a teenager, she relocated to America. Paquin played the lead role in Fly Away Home in 1996 as well as a brief appearance in Jane Eyre as an infant. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams in a 1997 television movie adaptation of the novel by Carson McCullers The Member of the Wedding and also played a part in the title role as Queen Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenagers as part of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and also played in the role of the polexia Aphrodisa groupie in Almost Famous (2000).
