April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball player in the US is part of a select set of females who've been awarded medals at multiple Olympics. She is set to compete in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal with Alix Klineman, a first time Olympian. In addition, Ross hopes to win the first Olympic gold. There is a chance that this is her only chance, at 39 years old. However, she's confident that winning the gold medal is in reach. Ross was mentioned by NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your best, even if you play well we will get the gold. Also, it's an issue of luck. Ross born in 1982 and was raised in Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started playing the sports of the Newport Harbor High School. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of activities while at Newport Harbor High School. Along with playing indoor volleyball, she also played basketball and jogged track as a pre-collegiate athlete. She was definitely the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. In her college profile, she played outside of the hitter middle blocker, as well as a setter throughout her volleyball time in high school. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the national Player of 1999. In addition, she was awarded the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross is working with Klineman from 2017. However, Ross's beach game had been established long before that. Actually, Ross has won several important tournaments throughout her career along with her two teammates. One is a volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Kessy and Ross were strong on the international circuit, winning the world championship in 2009 as a team. The 2012 Olympic Games, they received the gold medal. They were beaten out for the gold by the legendary group comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. Together, they took home bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a college athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to the start of her professional career. She played in high school, and even some years before she hit the beach as a professional. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was amazing. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman of the Year, and was also an All-American. Also, she was a key player in helping the Trojans make it to the Final Four. She endured a great personal loss in her sophomore, but was still successful in achieving the All-American distinction. Over the course of her final two seasons she led the Trojans up to the summit and won consecutive national titles. In her own way, she cemented her place in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the top female college volleyball players across the country. Ross was a student of the study of international relations in USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the chance to watch her daughter grow into an international beach volleyball star. Ross suffered the loss of her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. In the aftermath, Ross is still close to her parent who died. In addition, Margie is an ongoing source of encouragement for her on the beaches and throughout her daily life.
